Not my Own

He is not mine, my husband.

He’s not my battle sword.

He isn’t mine to call or nag.

His image is the Lord’s.

They’re not my own, my children.

They’re good gifts from above.

Though lent to me to guide and train,

Their Father’s name is Love.

I’m not my own, my body.

I did not fashion Me.

I don’t deserve love, grace, or good.

I’m owned by God, you see.

Why do you rage, my soul,

And wish to rule the sky?

Our lives are all bestowed and kept

By One more fit than I.
